Prior to running the largest Liveaboard Yacht in the Maldives, I had a short stint with an old Maldivian owned liveaboard vessel. The old vessel can hardly made it/survive due to its never ending vessel problem. The vessel was simply too old to operate. Surprisingly the old vessel was always full of guests due to its lower than average pricing. I eventually left the old vessel, which was my first liveaboard working experience in the Maldive after I was offered an opportunity to run a newer and larger yacht.

I always considered myself as a super hardworking, knowledgeable, super honest individual and will give more than 100% effort to my employer wherever I go. Unfortunately my work ethics caused me troubles more often than not.

My efforts and struggles lasted 6 months with this Luxury Liveaboard because I was not able to accept the corruption, alcoholism, substance abouse, backstabbing culture, incompetent and lazy crews on the yacht. I was a little heartbroken because the management would rather listen to corrupted and dishonest team member than someone who is trying to make things right. I hope the company will eventually find someone strong enough to handle the situations.

Still, I felt grateful to be given an opportunity to run a complex operation whereby I experienced and learnt a lot in the industry.

From the 6 months stints, I had to support staff recruitments, managing guests enquiries, supply and logistics issues, yacht maintenance besides the day to day crew, billing and operation management.

Still, a truly great experience for me in the diving industry.
